Once again more great information. I don't know HOW MANY hand poured/ custom soy wax candle distributors/estores I've saw in the last several months. I mean seriously there are hundreds of them! Probably thousands and all complaining how they have no sales.. hmmm I wonder why? Great article. Very informative!

Yeah I'm going to be starting my own online business and I think I have found my niche it's just the getting started part is so hard. I definitely have found my niche, so at least that's one thing out of the way. Everything that I'm going to be selling is handmade. This blog has been helping me out so much.

One of the most important things is patience. Too many people set up a website or release a product with the hopes of becoming a millionaire overnight. Take baby steps, guys, and reevaluate your approach. You learn as you go along.

While we need to look at certain things you mentioned in this post, we should also research the niche, find out what the competition is and then build your site. Finding the right supplier is also as important as finding a good niche.

For me the most important factors were whether I was interested in the niche and whether there was an existing market. Yes, competition is also important but it wouldn't be such a big factor if there are several sub niches under that broad niche. The priority for me was always my interest. If the market or niche you are in fascinates you and inspires you then you wouldn't feel like you are working even when you do. The research is also much more of a passion and that's when a person is most effective.

I think the same strategies that work in the real world can also be applied online businesses. You simply need to consider everything to be more competitive. Doing a SWOT analysis is also necessary to help improve and strengthen your business. Choosing your target niche is really necessary and the quality of a product or service should also match the expectations of your target niche.

I think a specific target could be a better strategy. Of course, if we have various products, we can get more profit and reach more buyers but with all that online stores on the net, maybe its better to just stick with one product or service. It can also be very effective to run promotions within those communities that need your product(s).

I would summarize the requirememts this way: website must provide clear and accurate information including products and services for sale, customer service and payment policy etc. Site must have easy navigation and logical layout.
