Once you have set up your new blog and gotten comfortable with working with your new online blogging platform, it is important to find appropriate content. Giving your blog personality in the content you decide to use is going to be a deciding factor in whether or not it will actually be a profitable business venture. There is not a fixed rule on what any blog should contain so feel free to write about whatever interests you.
It is important that you, a new blogger, understand that while you can write about anything you can’t simply write in any old haphazard manner. The main difference between a blog that it is profitable and popular and blog that has no readers and earns no income is the way the two blogs are written. Blogs that have been written in a purely informative manner regurgitating dry facts are rarely as popular as those written in an upbeat manner that encourages readers to keep checking back for more information. Also, having information presented in a more easy going manner usually makes it easier for readers to retain their new knowledge for later use.
In order to attract new readers and retain existing ones, it is extremely important that you add a touch of humanity and lightheartedness to all blog posts. The easiest way to do this is by sticking to topics that you are already comfortable with and have knowledge of. Once you have a topic that you are confident about you must write your blog posts as if you were standing in front of your intended audience or close friend and sharing your opinion.
Another thing a new blogger must remember is to avoid making your readers feel as though they are being addressed as part of a group. Many readers enjoy reading blog posts that seem to have been prepared just for them. It gives them a feeling of intimacy with the blog author and is more likely to get and keep their attention. If a reader feels as though you are preaching to a group, they are far more likely to feel as though all you are trying to do with your blog is make money and will be less likely to retain your message.
In addition to keeping your readers happy, posting in an intimate fashion will help your readers get to know “you” or the author of the blog. Your posting style will be giving you, and your blog, a personality. This will help you avoid becoming just another internet talking head. Also, many blog readers are curious about the mind behind the blog and they want to know more about who you are. The personality that comes out through your posts will often answer many questions visitors might have about you.

I agree that intimacy is very important. When we visit our friends blog, it feels like they are talking to us in person. I also like that they arrange their blog with graphics and icons that match with their personality. I think a small banner or ad is great as long as it is not too overwhelming but still catchy to the eye.

I agree, bloggers should let their readers know who they really are and they should also let their readers know how to contact them. Content is still the king in every blog, so it is a must to always ensure quality in every blog post.

This article is spot-on. The need for good and unique content coupled with an attractive blog “personality”. To me the personality is just an extension of good content and is a part of the total package to attract visitors.

This is the reason why I write articles on my blog in a manner that as though I’m really talking to them. I learned this from one of the best and I will keep doing this since I’m having lots of compliments for my writing style. Always write what is truly on your mind.

Quality content will get people reading your blog but usually it is the personality of the writer that will keep them coming back. If they feel a connection with the blogger they are more likely to want to keep track of what they are doing.

Yes, I agree that blogs come through for one-on-one interaction. The best part of blogging is it gives you the ability to get back to the author with your concerns, doubts, opinions and then get feedback on your feedback. It’s an interesting concept and the proof that it’s working big time is that advertisers are so interested in reaching out to people through blogs. Many websites are like static platforms where you cannot effectively express your point of view, whereas blogs have now redefined the way people express themselves in a much more meaningful way.

I think it’s definitely important to put your own spin or your own angle on any articles you post on your blog. Even if you pick news stories that you want to comment on, you should let your opinions come through.
We shouldn’t have to say that you should be careful about attacking other people on your blog, though. I’ve noticed some of the political blogs tend toward just personal attacks and I for one don’t want to read those.

Hmm, how profitable can a blog be? What methods are used, besides programs like Google Ads? Do you find that only blogs on certain subjects work? Or, if written well and with a dedicate fanbase, could “A Day in the Life of My Cat” become profitable?
I agree that intimacy and writing style are extremely important. I personally prefer reading personal blogs with someone who has a good sense of humour. There are so many out there that are, as you said, reiteration of dry facts, and it’s places like that that I never bother returning to. Site like this, on the other hand, that are written more intimately and on relevant, useful subjects, are ones where I stick around…

One important note is that while giving any opinions of your own, it must not be in the way seem forceful to the viewers. It should be in a gentle way and be careful that you give proper statistics supporting your views. Giving such minute details will increase the fan base.

The idea is to brand yourselves, guys. Find some way for visitors to remember you, something that sets you apart from everyone else. This can help you immensely in the long run because people remember you. Most people fail to do this, so take advantage of it.

Another thing that I could add to this is that you should have your own logo displayed on the top of your browser. Most of the successful site owners do this because it is a good way for your visitors to remember your site.

Learning how to write in a unique way also helps a thousand times over. Also knowing how to work the CSS to change the colors is a smart thing as well. Your blog for example, it’s mostly blacks and greys, but it contrasts well.

I think if you write enough, and don’t try to censor yourself, your personality will come through. I read a few local political blogs all the time and one of the they ones I read is by a guy who has pretty much opposite opinions to mine, but he’s so entertainint in his blog that I read it anyway.
